Willing to Repent of your Sins

When people say that you have to repent of your sins to be saved and you try to explain why that is not the case, they will often say — well, you do not have to repent of all your sins, but you have to be at least willing to turn from your sins. And of course the question then becomes, how willing do you have to be? Because if you are truly 100% willing to turn from your sins, what you would actually do is turn from all of them and never do it again. The reality is that not a single one of us is actually willing to turn from all of our sins and give 100% of our life to God. We are still sinners. We still make mistakes.

And the great news is we do not have to be willing to turn from our sins at all. The Bible says in John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." If somebody truly believes in Jesus Christ, the Bible says they will receive everlasting life. Even if inside their mind and their heart they say — I am still going to drink, I am still going to party, I am still going to fornicate, I am still going to commit all these sins, I am not willing to turn from any of my sins, I do not want to make any changes, but I do not want to go to hell — praise God that salvation is as easy as just believing on Christ.

Maybe you were willing and did actually turn from a lot of your sins after getting saved. But the great news is that even if somebody is not willing to turn from any sins at all, they will still be saved if they simply believe on Christ. You do not have to be willing to turn from your sins to be saved.
