Tradition = Scripture
The Roman Catholic Church is a false religion and a false church. One thing the Roman Catholic Church teaches is that tradition and scripture are on an equal level. Here is what it says in their own writings:
"The Church, to whom the transmission and interpretation of revelation are entrusted, does not derive her certainty about all revealed truths from the holy scriptures alone. Both scripture and tradition must be accepted and honoured with equal sentiments of devotion and reverence."
According to their own writing, tradition and scripture are meant to be handled and thought of as equals. But the Bible says: "Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth."
Peter spoke about this in 2 Peter chapter 1, referring back to the mount of transfiguration — where he personally got to see something truly remarkable, witnessing Moses and Elijah appear and hearing a voice from heaven. And yet after describing that extraordinary personal experience, Peter said that we have a more sure word of prophecy — referring to the scripture. What he is saying is that anything he personally saw and experienced is nothing compared to the word of God. We as Christians can go to the word of God and trust it completely, because thy word is truth.
The Bible also speaks about people who reject the word of God and the commandments of God by upholding their own tradition. And that is exactly what the Roman Catholic Church is doing. They are holding up traditions that go completely against what the word of God says. But when your tradition goes against the word of God, you get rid of your tradition. Why? Because the word of God is perfect. Everything in it is 100% accurate and perfect. If your tradition goes against the word of God, you always trust the word of God — not the other way around.
The Roman Catholic Church has it backwards. They place their traditions alongside scripture as an equal authority, and in doing so they have opened the door to every false doctrine they teach — purgatory, transubstantiation, infant baptism, and all the rest. None of those doctrines come from the Bible. They come from tradition. And that is precisely why the Roman Catholic Church is a false religion and a false church.
